Juror: Emma Powell
Birds. Bees. Angels. Airplanes. Bats. Butterflies. Fairies. Dragons. Rocketships. Dragonflies. For this exhibition, we seek images of creatures or creations capable of flight. The sky, and the winged things that might be in it, is the limit. Whether at rest or in the act of flight, any photographs featuring thing with wings are welcome. We are pleased to have our very own Emma Powell returning to jury this exhibition. Emma will choose 40 photographs for display at PhotoPlace Gallery from April 30th through May 30th. She will also select up to 35 additional photographs for the gallery’s Online Annex. All selected work will be included in an exhibition catalog available for purchase. To help artists defray costs, PhotoPlace Gallery offers to mat and frame work selected for exhibition free of charge, providing artists print their images to our pre-cut mat and frame sizes. Submission fee: $30 for five photos, $7 each additional photo.
About the Juror:
Born in Middlebury, Vermont, Emma Powell is currrently Artist-in-Residence at Iowa State University. Her photographs been exhibited internationally in many solo and group shows and honored with numerous awards and articles, including a recent feature on her work in Wired.com. Known for her dreamy, surreal subjects and settings, her work frequently features winged creatures ranging from birds to honeybees.
