The Emotive Portrait in the Peters Valley Landscape
Date: June 14-18, 2013 (5 days)
Instructor: Laurie Klein
Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Class Description: Emotive photography tells a distinctive story compositionally and aesthetically. Photographing people in nature creates unique challenges and opportunities, especially when capturing emotions. The photographer must show the relationship between the environment, the human form and the inherent feelings of both the shooter and the model. This workshop consists of daily shooting exercises in the field. Models are used to learn posing techniques and to explore the relationship between vulnerable subjects and their natural surroundings. Photographers discover how to pre-visualize the final photo. In addition, at the end of each day there are group discussions, group critiquing and an opportunity for individual portfolio review with the instructor. Because of the sensitive nature of the subjects, this workshop is limited to serious image-makers above the age of 18. Clothed and nude models are available.
