Dangerous dames, hardboiled gents, stark black & white contrast, curling smoke, shadows and dark alleyways, these are the signature moves of a classic Noir moment. But don’t let that confine you, doll. Just because it’s black & white, does not make it Noir, and if it’s in color, it doesn’t mean it isn’t Noir. Submit your photos for the New Orleans Photo Alliance’s call for entries for ‘Noir’. Whether you’re taking a cue from the classic films of the 40’s and 50’s, or re-creating the tone in the present day, show us the dark, grainy, smoky, somewhat hopeless side, with a hint of sexual innuendo, if you please, darling.

Submission Guidelines

Eligibility:
Open to photographers of all levels, who use any photographic process. All art submitted must be original work created by the applicant. Accepted work must be professionally presented and ready to hang.
Submissions may be digital, traditional, or alternative process from any format; they may also be collage, montage mixed media, assemblage, 3-D, or any process or concept that uses the photographic image.
Non-Refundable Entry Fee payable online via PayPal
Members: $25
Non-members: $35
Individual Photo Alliance Membership + Submission: $6 (a savings of $10)
-Include up to 5-10 images per submission.
-Save digital files in jpg format at 72 dpi and 800 pixels on the longest dimension.
-Title each image file as:
lastname_firstname_title_print-type_framed-size_entry-number[001-005]
-Accepted work should be presented professionally, wired and ready to hang.
-Work that arrives after the delivery deadline will not be included in the exhibit.
-Shipped work must have return prepaid shipping label(UPS of FedEx) included in package.
-Artwork will be insured while on premises. Insurance during shipping is the artist’s responsibility.
-Sales/ Commissions: 70% Artist and 30% Photo Alliance
The Photo Alliance reserves the right to reject any delivered art that does not match the online submission, or fails to meet framing and matting requirements. Artists will be given notice regarding a rejected submission and it is their option and responsibility to replace or correct it, time permitting. The Photo Alliance is not liable for any damages in shipping to or from the gallery, or for work left 30 days after the closing of the exhibition.
