The Worldwide Photography Gala Awards with the sponsorship of ZOOM Magazine and Professional Women Photographers (PWP) open the call for entries for a Juried competition for women photographers only: The Julia Margaret Cameron Award. The winner images will be published in ZOOM Magazine. As in other contest organized by WPGA a large portion of its revenue (entry fees and sales of works in exhibitions) is donated to Save the Children.
ELIGIBILITY and CATEGORIES:
The Julia Margaret Cameron Award is addressed to professional and non professional women photographers worldwide, who will compete separately in the following categories:
Portrait, People and Figure.
Documentary – Reportage, Current affairs and Editorial
Fashion and Advertising (only Professional section)
Architecture and Interiors
Landscapes and Citiscapes
Abstract and Still
There are no age restrictions, as well as no restrictions regarding the date the images were taken.
WPGA will be inviting in this occasion photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought. Traditional, contemporary, avant-garde, creative and experimental works that include old and new processes, mixed techniques, and challenging personal, emotional or political statements will be welcome.
The Julia Margaret Cameron Award will be juried by the photographers Mary Ellen Mark, Kim Weston, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Olivia Arthur, Vanessa Winship; Carol McCusker, curator of the San Diego Museum of Photography; and Rosanna Checchi, Editor in Chief of Zoom Magazine. The competition will open on November 2nd , 2009.
There will an Early Bird Deadline on December 13th, and a Final Deadline on February 7th, 2010.
Jurors’ selection will take place during the month of February and March, and the final announcement will be on April 6th 2010.
Before the early Bird deadline: 25 US$ for the first 3 images (the minimum of images to submit is 3); 7 US$ each additional image.
After the Early Bird deadline and until the Final Deadline: 35 US$ for the first 3 images; 10 US$ each additional image.
