WET PLATE PHOTOGRAPHY: TINTYPE (Spring | Beginning)
Experience the alchemical magic of this 150-year-old process and learn how to make your own luminous, silvery tintypes during this two-day intensive workshop. On day one, we’ll show you how to prepare the necessary materials from scratch and introduce you to the basic techniques used to produce these truly hand-made images. Day two will be spent refining your technique, and you’ll have ample opportunity to make a number of images on both metal and glass plates. Both a studio portrait set and table-top set will be available, and the small class size ensures individual attention and unfettered access to our facility. All equipment and materials will be provided. BRING: A sense of adventure and a small object to photograph–larger than a stick of butter but smaller than a suitcase. Wear clothing that can be stained.
